Exodus 7:6, 7  Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them. Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. (NIV)

There are two notable points of information in these two verses.

First, “Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.”

Second, “Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.”

The open secret of lifelong success is found in the first point. Doing just as the LORD commands is the pathway to a most blessed life. It is not the pathway to a problem-free life. There is no such thing as a problem-free life, is there? It is, however, the pathway where God solves our problems, redeems our problems, and maybe even schedules our problems.

God’s will, done God’s way, in God’s timing, with God’s strength, yields God’s results in us, through us, and for the betterment of others.

Age is important. Every five-and-a-half-year-old child understands she or he is really almost six. Octogenarians are not obsolete in God’s purpose. Instead, those who have lived their lifetimes knowing and experiencing God have arrived at a special place of grace and wisdom. They are able to declare truth that stands the tests of time. They are able to guide younger minds toward more meaningful lives.

Two big questions arise from the examples of Moses and Aaron:
* How closely are you following God’s instructions?
* What does your present age make possible?

I will do what God says and live in the full capacities my present age makes possible.

Our Father, what do you want me to do today? What does my present age make possible that you can use to edify others? Amen.
