Once upon a time, there was a TV show called The Office. There was a sweet and lovely character named Pam. There was a strange Character named Creed. On one occasion, Creed was doing damage to the company. To distract him, Pam gave him two pictures, said there were five differences between them, and asked him to find them.

They were the same picture. 

This proverb says, “The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.” 

It’s the same road. 

Perspective makes all the difference. 

Some people make things harder than they have to be.  

Others look for God, walk with God, trust God, and honor God. 

You and I get to choose which team we’re on. We can be team Harder Than It Has to Be, or team Honor God. 

As I savor my second cup of coffee this morning, I am consciously choosing team Honor God. In a few minutes, I’m going for a prayer walk, then I will prepare for the work day, then I will engage in the projects and tasks before me. Also, I will go to the doctor. Again. I haven’t seen this one in a couple of years, and I will joyfully make the trek to the far country and hear words of wisdom that will make my life better. 

Yesterday was a good day. It was productive and effective, even though I made one huge mistake that I had to correct while battling a headache. I wasn’t letting that thorn stop me.

What would put a smile on your face, and on God’s, as you reflect on this day tonight? 

Let’s get busy. Good things come to those who get up and get moving in the right direction for the right reason with the right expectations.

Our Father, you have laid out a highway before me. Prepare the way before me. Prepare me for the way. Give me your clear guidance all along the way. Make me fruitful and effective in everything I do today. I want to live a life that honors you and serves others. Amen.
