1 Timothy 2:1-4
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.” (NLT)

“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” (MSG)

As you make out your To-Do list for today, you might want to start with the Apostle Paul’s To-Pray list. Notice some of his primary prayer concerns:

1. Pray for everyone.
2. Ask God to help each individual.
3. Seek God’s highest and best for every person.
4. Give thanks to God for everyone, yes, even him or her.
5. Pray for elected and appointed authorities.

Why should we pray like this for all these people? “So that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.”

Also, “This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.”

* It’s good for them and for us.
* It pleases God.
* It benefits everyone along the way toward salvation.
* It helps everyone understand the truth.

Peaceful and quiet lives sound pretty good, don’t they? I mean, come on, have you been to a mall lately? Have you watched the evening news? Have you driven in traffic around construction sites? Malls, news media, and traffic each provide ample opportunity for prayer.

Let us pray as we begin our day and as we navigate along our way.

I will pray for the kind of world where we can all live in godliness and dignity.

Our Father, help me see others the way you see them and pray according to your will for their highest and best outcomes. Thank you for this privilege of prayer, of joining you in distributing your grace, mercy, and peace. Thank you for teaching us what to pray for regarding authority figures. Bless us with peaceful and quiet lives through how we live and how we pray. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 113:3

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-5

Psalm 112:4, 5
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Daily D – Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Daily D – 2 Kings 25:27-30

2 Kings 25:27-30 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, he released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. He did this on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat of honor higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon. So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and for the rest of his life ate regularly at the king’s table. Day by day the king gave Jehoiachin a regular allowance as long as he lived.
