Isaiah 41:9, 10
”I brought you from the ends of the earth
and called you from its farthest corners.
I said to you: You are my servant;
I have chosen you; I haven’t rejected you.
Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you; I will help you;
I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” (CSB)

Isaiah 41: 13
”For I am the Lord your God,
who holds your right hand,
who says to you, “Do not fear,
I will help you. (CSB)

Psalm 118:6
”The Lord is for me; I will not be afraid.
What can a mere mortal do to me?“ (CSB)

Yesterday was a long day. I decided to sleep a bit later since bedtime the night before was likewise later. An important meeting loomed. Fresh thinking was essential. Sleep helps clear away the cobwebs of our days and untangles our thoughts for clarity.

Then the phone rang a few minutes into my overtime rest. My total extra sleep amounted to around twenty minutes. It was good phone call. I needed to get up. The meeting went well.

Our flights home successfully avoided the worst of the weather. We arrived at midnight. I got home at 12:45ish. The pillow felt so good when my head lay down around 1:30.

One glass of water and two cups of coffee into this day, some of my favorite Bible verses showed up in today’s reading plan. They are so good, commentary is unnecessary. They are so wonderful, I know them by heart. They are so welcome, I smile as I sound them out again.

If you ever wanted to begin memorizing the Bible but didn’t know where to start, here you go.

What puts the fear of God in fear? God.

Who comforts fearful souls? God.

We have his word on it.

Let’s live fearlessly today.

I will live fearlessly today because God is in charge here.

Our Father, you are with us. You are for us. You have chosen us. You strengthen us. You hold us. That’s good news! Amen.

Daily D – John 6:47-51

John 6:47-51 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. Yes, I am the bread of life! Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died. Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.”

Daily D – Matthew 21:43-44

Matthew 21:43, 44 “I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.”

Daily D – Matthew 21:12-15

Matthew 21:12-15 Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the children in the Temple shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.”

But the leaders were indignant.

Daily D – Matthew 23:37

Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.”

Daily D – 1 Kings 22:4-5

1 Kings 22:4, 5 Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked, “Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?” Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses.” Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”
