Daily D – Romans 10:11-13
Romans 10:11-13
As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (NIV)
Scripture reassures us, “No one who trusts God like this—heart and soul—will ever regret it.” It’s exactly the same no matter what a person’s religious background may be: the same God for all of us, acting the same incredibly generous way to everyone who calls out for help. “Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help.” (MSG)

“Everyone who calls, ‘Help, God!’ gets help.”
Sometimes the best prayers are the simplest.
One of my favorite prayers is found in these verses. “Help, God!” is a complete prayer. It’s not complicated. It’s not hard to remember. It doesn’t require deep thought. Its utter simplicity is part of its genius. When we need help, we can ask for help.
When we need the kind of help only God can provide, we ask Him, and He hears and answers our prayers.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Jesus is not a stingy Savior. He’s not waiting for you to get your attitude right, your behavior right, or your giving right. He takes you right as you are, just as you are. He helps you take your best next steps. He grows you to maturity. He helps you become all he ever dreamed you would be.
When you’ve come to the place where you have unreservedly asked him to save you, continue the journey. That first good step deserves another, and another, and another, for a lifetime. And every time the going gets tough, the tough say, “Help God!” And every time we pray in this manner, he says, “Yes.”
What we often consider help is often not very helpful at all, but God’s help is always precisely what we truly need, even when it’s not what we most want. Learning to align our minds with God’s and attune our hearts to His helps us desire what He desires for us. This is the help that’s truly helpful.
Simple prayers say and avail so much.

Our Father, thank you for not demanding rituals in moments of helplessness. Thank you for not requiring lengthy memorization in periods of stress. Thank you for simple prayers and powerful answers. Thank you for knowing what we need before we speak. Thank you for answering better than we ask. Amen.
