Psalm 142:5
Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.” (NLT)

I cry out, GOD, call out:
‘You’re my last chance, my only hope for life!’
(The Message)

If you had to guess what day of the week it was when King Saul took a poop in the cave David was hiding in, you would probably guess Monday. Some people have a visceral reaction to Mondays. Some Mondays are Mondayer than others. Here’s hoping nobody poops in your hiding place today.

David’s best hiding place was not a deep, dark cave. His best hiding place was God Almighty. He learned this early on and never forgot it. How often do we read in the Psalms, “You’re my hiding place,” “You are my rock and my refuge,” and similar affirmations?

On this Monday Monday, let us find refuge in our Father in heaven who is so much more secure than a hole in the side of a hill.

I will find my strength in God alone.

Our Father, you are our rock, our refuge, our hiding place. You are our security. You are our strength. We need you. We can’t make it without you. Thank you that we are never alone, never out of your care. Hold us tight today. Amen.

Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
