Isaiah 26:3, 4
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself,
is an everlasting rock! (CSB)

Advent’s anticipation of the coming of Jesus focuses on Peace this week. Peace is the condition of our souls when we have learned and leaned into the ever-present reality of God’s leading and surrounding presence. Peace is the presence of a mind settled on God’s goodness and provision. Peace is an overflow of God’s perfect love refreshing all it touches and fills.

Peace is possible when we learn to depend on God for all things and in all things. He is completely trustworthy. His faithful love never ends.

My coworker takes a monthly day away she calls a DAWG Day. DAWG is an acrostic meaning Day Alone With God. Try it. You will learn to love it. We should also practice DOG Days. DOG stands for Depend On God. The benefits of Depending On God day by day start with perfect peace but do not end there. Perfect Peace is the gateway through which we begin to experience ever more of God’s perfection and wonder.

Schedule a DAWG Day soon. Learn the practices and rhythms of making every day a DOG Day.

Perfect Peace will overflow your life and soothe the souls you encounter. You will be the best part of some people’s days. You will magnify the Lord our God for others to see in ways they have not yet perceived.

Trust God now and forever. He is our everlasting rock, our refuge, our hiding place, our source of everything we need and all we enjoy.

I will trust God now and forever and live with the perfect peace this provides.

Our Father, thank you that we can trust you at all times for all things. We can depend on you because you are forever trustworthy and true. Invade our lives with your peace. Empower us to live lives of perfect peace. Make us peace carriers in every conversation and situation. Amen.

Daily D – Genesis 46:2-4

Genesis 46:2-4 During the night God spoke to him in a vision. “Jacob! Jacob!” he called. “Here I am,” Jacob replied. “I am God, the God of your father,” the voice said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make your family into a great nation. I will go with you down to Egypt, and I will bring you back again. You will die in Egypt, but Joseph will be with you to close your eyes.”

Daily D – Genesis 43:26-28

Genesis 43:26-28 When Joseph came home, they gave him the gifts they had brought him, then bowed low to the ground before him. After greeting them, he asked, “How is your father, the old man you spoke about? Is he still alive?” “Yes,” they replied. “Our father, your servant, is alive and well.” And they bowed low again.

Daily D – Genesis 41:37-42

Genesis 41:37-42 Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.”

Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck.

Daily D – Genesis 37:5-7

Genesis 37:5-7 One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever. “Listen to this dream,” he said. “We were out in the field, tying up bundles of grain. Suddenly my bundle stood up, and your bundles all gathered around and bowed low before mine!”

Daily D – Genesis 32:24-32

Genesis 32:24-32 This left Jacob all alone in the camp, and a man came and wrestled with him until the dawn began to break. When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket. Then the man said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking!”…
