Luke 23:55, 56  As his body was taken away, the women from Galilee followed and saw the tomb where his body was placed. Then they went home and prepared spices and ointments to anoint his body. But by the time they were finished the Sabbath had begun, so they rested as required by the law. (NLT)

Jesus’ invitation in those early days was simple and plain. “Follow me,” he said.

At one point, multiplied thousands gathered to hear him speak, to see him heal, to eat miracle bread.

Here at the end, all who were left were the women from Galilee.

That hill appeared God-forsaken.

The cemetery was silent.

The women laid their work aside as daylight withered away.

It was night.

There was evening, and there was a morning.

There in silent stillness lay
The One who created night and day
There in a tomb unfinished
Rested His body diminished

Bread and wine
Timbers and nails
Laughter and scorn
Sobbing and wails

Night lasts forever
Day drags to its end
Will anything ever
Be good again?

I will ponder all that was lost.

Our Father, it didn’t have to be this way. When invited, you did not go away. When forsaken, you did not forsake us. When only those who followed from afar remained, you sought us still and promised a brand new day. Amen.

Psalm 125:4, 5
O LORD, do good to those who are good,
whose hearts are in tune with you.
But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O LORD.
Take them away with those who do evil.

Daily D – Psalm 106:1-3

Psalm 106:1-3
Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD?
Who can ever praise him enough?
There is joy for those who deal justly with others
and always do what is right.

Daily D – Psalm 103:1-5

Psalm 103:1-5
Let all that I am praise the LORD;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the LORD;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
