Psalm 108:1
“My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart!” (NLT)

I’m ready, God, so ready,
ready from head to toe.
ready to sing,
ready to raise a God-song:
(The Message).

I attended a conference at a resort hotel a few months ago called Heartsong. This psalm of David is a heart song. He says so right off the top.

A coworker of mine forwarded a devotional last week from Worship Devotionals. These daily entries are worship songs from the team at The Worship Initiative (devo.theworshipinitiative.com). If you enjoy contemporary worship songs, these songs will bring daily encouragement to you.

I love singing. Music stirs my heart like nothing else.

What’s your heart song? What brings you encouragement, comfort, assurance, or hope?

What worship song makes you want to laugh out loud or hug somebody?

What songs do you hold in reserve for the hard times?

Yesterday’s sunrise was smooth and easy. The dew on the grass at the park, its green grandeur accented by sturdy oaks standing at attention, welcomed the sun’s illumination and refracted its rays in a loving glow. Ollie and I enjoyed the softness of the air and the smiles of our companions in worship.

An early task will prevent our walk this morning, but a pint-size passenger will lead into another round of hallelujahs.

What makes your heart sing this morning?

What could lead you into a holy shouting spree?

What song will you start, even if you don’t feel like it, because you know by the end of it, your feelings will have caught up to your initiative?

It’s a good and holy habit to keep a song or two or more ready to play and sing to say what is in your heart that is bigger than words alone can bear.

You might start with something like this: [https://youtu.be/bEXy857GABk](https://youtu.be/bEXy857GABk)

I will begin my days with heart songs and return to them often.

Our Father, thank you for heart songs. Thank you for reminders of your grace and mercy. Thank you for songs of praise, songs of lament, songs of joy, and songs expressing deep emotion stirred by the events of our days. Teach us to sing. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
