Luke 2:8-14 
That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” 

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” (NLT)

Have you noticed how quickly things progress when God says GO! 

The first word in verse 9 is suddenly. The first word in verse 13 is also suddenly. In verse 16, the word changes, but the action is the same. It says the shepherds hurried to the village. 

Earth’s waiting room was filled with the Good News that the waiting was over. 

For to us, a child is born,
to us, a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, 
Prince of Peace.
(Isaiah 6:6 NIV)

After Winter, Spring.
After endless waiting, Hope arrived.

He knows the depths of our hearts and the wounds that prevent us from becoming who he designed us to be.

He takes the broken pieces of our lives and makes us beautifully whole.

He cares for us the way we always wished someone would.

He not only brings peace, he is Peace. 

Ponder these truths as long as you like. Do not, however, fail to reach for them and take them to yourself. Hold them dear to you, within you, because the next movement is likewise promised to come suddenly, wonderfully, gloriously.

Our Father, Revelation ends with these words: “He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people,” (‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭NLT‬‬). In this Advent season, we celebrate what you did so suddenly then, and anticipate what you will do suddenly next. Amen.
