Luke 11:36  “If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.” (NLT)

Are there dark corners in your life where God’s light is not permitted to shine?

Asking for a friend.

Our senior English teacher, Mrs. Law, who was married to a Texas Highway Patrolman, laid down the Law on our first day of class. She told us our minds have many rooms. Many of those rooms remain unfurnished. What we read, learn, and watch decorates those rooms. We get to choose what adorns our minds. She encouraged us to choose wisely.

Not long after that, I was handed a booklet called _My Heart, Christ’s Home_ by Robert Boyd Munger. It too was concerned with what we allow to pass before our eyes and into our hearts and minds.

Munger talked about those places that are off-limits to Jesus. You get the picture, right?

Let’s rephrase the question above: Is there any area in your heart and mind that is off-limits to Jesus?

Is there an area of your life still in need of redemption? Or maybe in need of restoration?

One of my favorite movie lines comes from Hook with Robin Williams as Peter Pan and Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook. Hook is speaking to Peter Pan’s son about the ear piercing he is about to receive. He says, “Brace yourself, Lad, this is really going to hurt.”

Allowing Jesus to shine his light in the dark corners of your life may sound like it is really going to hurt. Instead, his illumination cleanses, forgives, and heals. It restores to original purpose. It empowers for productive and effective life.

Mrs. Law, Mr. Munger, and Dr. Jesus would like you to experience something much more helpful than guilt and shame. They want you to experience grace, goodness, and soul renovation. Brace yourself, Lad or Lass; you are really going to experience wonder, beauty, and purpose.

This is a good day to invite Jesus to light the way in every corner of your heart and mind.

I will invite Jesus to light up my life.

Our Father, I invite you to illumine me. Please drive the darkness out of my heart and mind. Fill me with your cleansing and renovating presence. Empower me to live a life that shines. Amen.

Daily D – John 6:47-51

John 6:47-51 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. Yes, I am the bread of life! Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died. Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.”

Daily D – Matthew 21:43-44

Matthew 21:43, 44 “I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on.”

Daily D – Matthew 21:12-15

Matthew 21:12-15 Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

The blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, and he healed them. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law saw these wonderful miracles and heard even the children in the Temple shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David.”

But the leaders were indignant.

Daily D – Matthew 23:37

Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.”

Daily D – 1 Kings 22:4-5

1 Kings 22:4, 5 Then he turned to Jehoshaphat and asked, “Will you join me in battle to recover Ramoth-gilead?” Jehoshaphat replied to the king of Israel, “Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses.” Then Jehoshaphat added, “But first let’s find out what the Lord says.”
