Habakkuk 3:17-19
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.

Some seasons of our souls feel empty.

There are times when we feel completely lost.

Even so, those who have lived a long time, who have walked with God through every kind of season, understand that it won’t always be this way.

Emptiness is not the end of the story.

Lostness is not the end of the story.

Joyless-ness is not the end of the story.

Remember well that for those who know and love Jesus, who walk with him in a deep and abiding relationship, the best is always yet to be. The end of the story is always better than the beginning. What we cannot do for ourselves and what we cannot do for others, He will provide.

On down days when I can barely get around, he reminds me that he will empower me. He will lead me through everything He leads me to. He will lead me higher than I could ever climb. He will give me strength beyond my own.

That’s good news today. It’ll still be good news tomorrow. It’ll be good news every day I need it.

I will depend on God’s strength.

Our Father, I am weak, but you are strong. I trust that what you’ve led me to, you will lead me through. I am confident that the best is yet to be. Thank you for being so good to me. Amen.

Daily D – Jonah 1:13-16

Jonah 1:13-16 Instead, the men did their best to row back to land. But they could not, for the sea grew even wilder than before. Then they cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord, do not let us die for taking this man’s life. Do not hold us accountable for killing an innocent man, for you, Lord, have done as you pleased.” Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm. At this the men greatly feared the Lord, and they offered a sacrifice to the Lord and made vows to him.
