Esther 6:6  When Haman entered, the king asked him, “What should be done for the man the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought to himself, “Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?” (NIV)

When God places you in a position of significance and/or prominence, he does so with a purpose. You are an instrument in His hands to bless the whole world as you have been blessed. Queen Esther understood this. Haman did not.

The Reader’s Digest version of this story tells how one man’s arrogance would have murdered multitudes. Another man’s character saved those multitudes in cooperation with his beautiful relative who had become queen.

The end of the story displays the Man of Character as the second most powerful man in the Kingdom, who, along with the queen, instituted an annual memorial celebrating how God used them to save many lives and to protect their people as they served the kingdom.

How will you join God in saving, delivering, and healing the vulnerable in this particular age? How will you marshal your influence to protect and defend those whom others would abuse or destroy?

You and I get to join God in building a better world. We start by doing the best we can with what we’ve got, where we are. As God places us in greater positions of significance and prominence, we’re able to do even better and more broadly.

You may not have Esther’s beauty, and you may not have Mordecai’s tenacity, but what God has given you can make all the difference in the world in some small way. Joined with others doing what they can, in whatever way, large or small, leads to societal shifts.

Every smile, every kindness, every pleasant word turns the world in the right direction. Recipients of grace like us are carriers of grace for others. May we overflow with God’s goodness today.

I will carry God’s grace to everyone I meet in every place I go.

Our Father, thank you for your amazing grace. As you have graced me, empower me to share that grace with others. Empower me to do what I can with what I have to join you in building a better world. Amen.

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Daily D – John 7:50-51
