Daily D – Deuteronomy 29:29
Deuteronomy 29:29
“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.” (NIV)
“The Lord our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that he has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.” (NLT)

There are some things I will never know fully. There are depths of understanding I will never master. There is wisdom that will forever lie beyond my grasp. And I’m okay with that, because I know who knows it all.
I watched a YouTube video recently where an atheist challenged a Christian professor and apologist. The atheist said there was no way Jesus could turn water into wine. The Christian professor replied with a well-reasoned rejoinder (I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever written this word.), saying that turning water into wine is really no problem for the One who created water.
The Creator of the Heavens and the Earth is not limited by our comprehension.
Job discovered something about this as we see in Job 38-41.
The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1:25, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”
God at his worst is better than us at our best.
It’s all too easy to get stuck on things we cannot know and become paralyzed in the face of what we know we should be and do.
Do what you know wherever you go. Trust God to handle the rest.
The StengthsFinder assessment says my top strength is Learner. I like learning. Rabbit holes of information can take me on amazing adventures. I look forward to eternity for the sheer pleasure of learning how God did it all. I’ve got questions. He has answers.
There are some things we will never know or fully understand, but we know who does, and we can trust him from the bottom of our hearts.
I don’t know it all, and I never will.
God knows it all and invites me to be still and know him. Psalm 46 doesn’t end with one of our favorite memory verses (verse 10). It ends with verse 11:
“The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.”
Psalms 46:11 NIV
This is all we really need to know.
Again, the Apostle Paul asks a rhetorical question that places all things in proper perspective.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:31 NIV
God knows it all, and I know him. Better yet, I belong to him. Better still, he loves me with an everlasting love that is perfect in every way. I will live this truth today.

I will live in the security of knowing God who knows it all.

Our Father, you know a thing or two because you created a thing or two. You know everything I cannot possibly understand or imagine. Thank you for knowing and loving me. Thank you that I can know and love you. Knowing you for who you are relieves me of every tension related to what is unknowable now. I can trust your heart where I cannot explain your truths that are beyond the limits of my mind. Amen.
