Acts 9:1-6
Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” (NIV)

Paul was on the way to stop The Way when he discovered he was in the way and then became one of the leaders showing The Way. That may seem way out. But it’s the way God works. Where are you on the way?

You might be one of those folks who’s on the way to stop everyone else who lives according to The Way.

You might be one of those who suddenly discovered there is a different way, and you need wise guidance to figure out your best next steps.

You might have accepted The Way, but you’re not really that engaged in going the way you should go.

You might be a person who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.

There are probably a few other options, but these are the major ones, aren’t they?

To you, who is Jesus? He said he is The Way, the Truth, and the Life. (See John 14:6.) Without him, there is no going. Without him, there is no knowing. Without him, there is no living. I’ve said that a few times at funerals. It’s probably something we ought to figure out before we get to the funeral home, though, right?

Again, where are you on the way?

Here’s the next logical question: Does God have your attention, or does he need to knock you down and blind you with his light?

Paul knew the theorem upon which The Way was built. He simply rejected the axiomatic conclusion until he saw the proof with such brilliance that he couldn’t see anything else.

Noah and Abraham knew The Way. Moses and David knew The Way. Jesus is The Way. Peter got in the way, then got out of the way, then helped others along The Way.

Aren’t you glad God’s a Waymaker? ([https://bit.ly/4y5SDdB](https://bit.ly/4y5SDdB))

One last time: Where are you on The Way?

—

I will live in step with Jesus who is The Way.

—

Our Father, thank you for showing us The Way. Thank you for walking with us and pursuing us on The Way. Thank you for inviting everyone to join you on The Way. Amen.
