Joshua 21:45  Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true. (NLT)

Promises are only as good as the one making the promise. Only One keeps every promise to perfection. When God speaks, you can trust everything he says to the finest detail.

More familiar to us is the experience declared in the song, Promises, Promises.

You made me promises, promises
Knowing I’d believe
Promises, promises
You knew you’d never keep*

The truth is if someone tries very hard to make us trust him or her, he or she is likely not very trustworthy. Sad, isn’t it?

Our Father in heaven is completely, perfectly trustworthy now and forever. We can comfortably make this our settled disposition. Proverbs 3:5, 6 in The Message tells us,

Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.

I will trust God from the bottom of my heart.

Our Father, thank you for your complete trustworthiness. Thank you for how you do what you say you will do. You accomplish all you intend. Please give us the wisdom to take you at your word and to follow your instructions now and always. Amen.

They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.
