Jeremiah 33:2, 3  The Lord who made the earth, the Lord who forms it to establish it, the Lord is his name, says this: “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” (CSB)

Claims of omnipotence are almost always false. This is likewise true when discussing supreme intelligence. And everybody knows nobody can be everywhere.

And then there is God. He is all-powerful. He is all-knowing. He is everywhere. We have never been anywhere he is not, thought something he has not considered, or done something so pure and good he hasn’t done it first, and better.

We need this acknowledgment and understanding from verse 32 before we get to verse 33. Verse 33 gets stitched on throw pillows and framed on walls. People share this verse on social media. Preachers preach it. Sunday School teachers teach it. Disciples claim it.

However, it all sounds like nonsense if there is no Triple Omni reality behind it. How in the world could God say, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know” if he wasn’t all-knowing, all-powerful, and immediately available?

Before we claim verse 33, we better understand God, his nature, and how he chooses to relate to us. Here’s a hint: It’s all good.

His power is demonstrated by creating the earth, the skies, and all the heavenly bodies. Clouds are his handiwork. Sunrise and sunset? Some of his best work, and daily repeated.

Interlude: Have you noticed how many more sunset photos there are than sunrises? I love sunsets. Morning shadows in the summertime, however, soothe my soul.

God’s wisdom is demonstrated in simple things like the rotation of the earth and its tilt. Speed up or slow down that rotation, my Science Teacher daughter will tell you, and we will start whirling off into space, freeze, or burn up, or something else she knows that I do not.

There’s more where that came from. Remember the end of the Book of Job? God knows a lot more than we do now or ever will. Artificial Intelligence, meet All Intelligence. Be sure to take a knee.

God’s presence comes down to this truth: We have never been where God is not. We are never beyond his reach. We are never out of his care.

Now we are ready for verse 33. Listen to it. Say it aloud. Pray it aloud. Commit it to memory. Practice it daily. Let its reality and wonder shape your life. If you are a glove, God is the hand who fills it, animates it, and uses it to bless the whole world.

And now we are out of time for today. Before we go, scribble these verses on an index card. Place verse 32 on one side and verse 33 on the other. Live both sides of this perfect truth.

I will know God for who he is and pray to him in answer to his kind invitation.

Our Father, you are all-powerful. You are all-knowing. You are everywhere. Most wonderfully, you are the definition of LOVE. You invite us to think your thoughts. You invite us to know your wisdom. You are always ready and available for our questions, concerns, complaints, praise, and thanksgiving. You alone are God. You are our Father in Heaven. The better we know you, the more we hallow your will and your ways, your presence, and your purpose for us and for the whole world. Amen.

Daily D – Job 1:9-11

Job 1:9-11 Satan replied to the LORD, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God. You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is! But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”

Daily D – Psalm 145:17

Psalm 145:17
The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.

Daily D – Psalm 139:1-6

Psalm 139:1-6
O LORD, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Daily D – Psalm 130

Psalm 130
From the depths of despair, O LORD,
I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer.

Daily D – Psalm 125:4-5

Psalm 125:4, 5
O LORD, do good to those who are good,
whose hearts are in tune with you.
But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O LORD.
Take them away with those who do evil.
May Israel have peace!
