Acts 7:57-59  They dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. While they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” He knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” And after saying this, he fell asleep. (CSB)

A quick note before I toddle off to physical therapy: Angry young prophets sometimes turn into thoughtful and reflective apostles. Don’t give up on the angry young men in your life, and don’t stop praying for them.

Stephen’s didn’t waste his last breaths. He prayed for those who were so zealously wrongheaded, so murderously motivated. Read ahead to Acts 9 and see how God said YES to his prayers.

Pick out an angry young prophet you know. Pray for him or her to know and experience Jesus in a truly transformational relationship. Ask God to use him or her for exponential influence for the Kingdom of God.

I will pray for angry young prophets trusting God to transform them into thoughtful and reflective, fruitful and effective apostolic leaders.

Our Father, thank you for turning immature anger into settled dispositions of true righteousness. Continue your transforming work in our lives. Use us to help guide those who need the shift from anger to intention, from being led by emotions to being led by your Spirit. Amen.

Daily D – Judges 13:18

Judges 13:18 “Why do you ask my name?” the angel of the Lord replied. “It is too wonderful for you to understand.”

Daily D – Judges 3:4

Judges 3:4 These people were left to test the Israelites—to see whether they would obey the commands the Lord had given to their ancestors through Moses.

Daily D – Judges 2:10

Judges 2:10 After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.

Daily D – Joshua 21:45

Joshua 21:45 Not a single one of all the good promises the Lord had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.

Daily D – Joshua 14:10-13

Joshua 14:10-13 “Now, as you can see, the LORD has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.”
So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land.
