1 Kings 8:56 “Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.” (NLT)

Where were you when you discovered God keeps his promises? How did you hallow that place? (See 1 Samuel 7:12.) How have you memorialized that moment in your heart and mind? What courage and confidence does it give you for today, tomorrow, and forever?

God keeps his promises. Every generation learns this truth in one way or another, at one time or another.

You have no doubt heard and sung the old song, Standing On the Promises. The tune is simple and lively. You might want to look it up and sing it. If you don’t have a hymnal, you probably have a web browser that can find it for you. It’s almost always good to begin the day with a snappy song, especially one full of grace and truth.

Which of God’s promises are you holding onto today?

Our Father, you keep all of your promises. You are forever faithful and true. You are better to us than we would be to ourselves. Thank you for unending kindness and your eternal compassion. Amen.

Today I am eighty-five years old. I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then. So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the LORD is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the LORD said.”
So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land.
