His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire. His feet were like polished bronze refined in a furnace, and his voice thundered like mighty ocean waves. . . And his face was like the sun in all its brilliance. REVELATION 1:14-16 (NLT)

At the transfiguration along with Peter and James and again on the island of Patmos, Jesus tells John, “Don’t be afraid!”

When he showed himself to the disciples who were hiding behind a locked door, Jesus said, “Peace to you!” (Luke 24:36).

In the presence of Jesus we do not have to experience fear or worry.

I needed this reminder today. How about you?

One of my coworkers sent a text message a few minutes ago and let me know she is ill and will not be able to join me for the training we are supposed to lead today. With COVID ramping up instead of down, no doubt she has concerns about what she is experiencing.

Many of us are dealing with challenges that have taken us by surprise. Other adventures await us around the corner. How can we face this reality? Here’s your prescription:

* Take one “Don’t be afraid!” now and another as often as you need it.
* Take one “Peace to you!” when considerations turn toward worries.
* See Jesus for who he is and remember he will never leave you alone. In his presence you have all you will ever need.

I will trust Jesus for all that is going on and all that is coming.

Our Father, empower us to live fearlessly and faithfully. Empower us to face our challenges with peace in your eternal presence. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
