Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. EPHESIANS 3:12 (NLT)

Think of the most prominent person or persons you have met. Who introduced you? My wife, daughter, and I stepped onto an elevator one day and noticed a boy with a dog. My bride paid attention to the dog all the way to the ground floor. She missed the couple standing in the back.

Our daughter and I, however, recognized the couple and stood in a wee bit of awe. Senator John McCain and his wife Cindy shared the lift with us. The war hero and former presidential candidate smiled and nodded. We did the same.

My bride began chatting about the cute dog as soon as we stepped into the lobby. We let her know who she missed.

We did not encroach on the senator and his wife’s privacy. We were not formally introduced. Public people deserve relief from the pressures of fawning fans seeking selfies.

I have been introduced to some Very Important People. (FYI: This does not make me a VIP. Those guys would not remember me from Adam.) I sat in a room and enjoyed conversation with people who are frequent guests on news channels. I spoke at a conference filled with government leaders from a closed communist nation. I participated in a meeting with over one hundred and fifty leading religious leaders from around the world from the three Abrahamic faiths.

I could go on. So could you. We could hitch up our britches and one-up one another for hours. Or we could turn to more important matters like considering the meaning of this Bible verse. It says the most important person who ever walked the face of this earth introduces us to the Maker of Heaven and Earth.

We can come into the very presence of God because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross and in the resurrection. We come to him boldly and confidently. We come as his dearly loved children. Jesus teaches how to come to him in what we often call the Lord’s Prayer when he instructs us to pray, “Our Father in heaven, . . .” (Matt. 6:9).

God in heaven is our Father. He is our Father. Jesus taught us to pray not as outsiders looking in, but as dearly loved family members. He includes us as part of the family. Those who come to Jesus and receive his gift of salvation are not subjects, not slaves, but members of the family.

Jesus himself makes the introduction. He makes the relationship possible. We can enter our Father in heaven’s presence confident in our relationship with him. We can enter his presence confident he will receive us and hear us.

The only thing that could keep you from entering God’s presence is your reluctance to seize the opportunity. Put away false humility. Get rid of sinful pride. Do not allow anything to hold you back from what Jesus makes possible for you. Go to our Father in heaven now. Tell him all that is on your heart and mind. Seek his truth and wisdom. Know him and experience him.

Someone somewhere will bring up God today. Feel free to smile a knowing smile. You know him. You have been properly introduced. You have been given the privilege to introduce others to him. You can do so confidently.

I will know and experience God and help others do the same.

Our Father, thank you for making it possible for us to know you and experience you. Thank you for what Jesus did for us to make this possible. Than you for including us in your family. Use us to expand your family by introducing others to you. Amen.

Daily D – Romans 15:5-6

Romans 15:5, 6 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that, with one mind and one voice, you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Daily D – Romans 12:1-2

Romans 12:1, 2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Daily D – Romans 10:11-13

Romans 10:11-13 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Daily D – Romans 8:1-2

Romans 8:1, 2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Daily D – Romans 5:1-2

Romans 5:1, 2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
