Genesis 46:1-4
So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

“I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes.” (NIV)

Beersheba is a place where Abraham and Isaac, and now Jacob, sought God and found his clear direction. If there were lingering doubts about going to Egypt, they were erased here when God spoke to Jacob in a vision. Consider God’s promises to Jacob:

* I will make you into a great nation there.
* I will go down to Egypt with you.
* I will surely bring you back again.
* Joseph will close your eyes when you die.

These four promises did what God intended them to do. They removed the fear from Jacob/Israel’s heart and mind. What God said in this vision was consistent with what he had said to Abraham and Isaac.

God’s plans are expansive.

God promises his presence and provision along with his directions.

God renews us in our broken places.

Why do you need to hear these truths today?

What will you do in response to them?

I will trust God’s plans, purpose, and timing for my life.

Our Father, I seek you today to know your will and your way. Here are my ears. What do you have to say? Here is my life. What instructions would you have me obey? Amen.

trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.”

Daily D – Leviticus 18:1-5

Leviticus 18:1-5 The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God. Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.”

Daily D – Psalm 34:3

Psalm 34:3
“Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.”

Daily D – Leviticus 11:44-45

Leviticus 11:44, 45 “I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground. I am the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.”

Daily D – Leviticus 10:1-2

Leviticus 10:1, 2 Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
