Genesis 35:27-29  Jacob came home to his father Isaac in Mamre, near Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed. Isaac lived a hundred and eighty years. Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him. (NIV)

I find it interesting that Isaac thought he was nearing the end of his journey before Jacob ever ran away to Haran. He said in Genesis 27:2, “I am now an old man and don’t know the day of my death.”
‭‭
Now, this text shows up after Jacob had been gone for twenty years and returned. He had been back in the land and at peace with Esau for quite some time, apparently. Isaac had resigned himself to death long before he died.

Jimmy Draper wrote a book entitled Don’t Quit Before You Finish. This is a title worth remembering even if you never read the book.

Wherever you are in your story today, don’t quit before you finish.

Discouragement hits us hard from time to time. Don’t quit before you finish.

Disruptions knock us off course. Don’t quit before you finish.

Delays often feel like denials. Don’t quit before you finish.

Disregard from those you serve makes you feel insignificant. Don’t quit before you finish.

I’ll stop right here for now. But I will not quit before I finish.

I will live every day according to your purpose.

Our Father, empower me each of my life to walk the path you have laid out before me. Empower me to live each day according to your purpose for me in this time and place. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Guide my thoughts, emotions, and behavior so that others see how good you are. Amen.

Ezekiel 28:1, 2 The word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“ ‘In the pride of your heart
you say, “I am a god;
I sit on the throne of a god
in the heart of the seas.”
But you are a mere mortal and not a god,
though you think you are as wise as a god.”

Daily D – Psalm 143:10

Psalm 143:10 “Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
lead me on level ground.”

Daily D – Psalm 140:8

Psalm 140:8 “Do not grant the wicked their desires, LORD;

Daily D – Ezekiel 11:19-20

Ezekiel 11:19, 20 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

Daily D – Ezekiel 7:27

Ezekiel 7:27
The king will mourn,
the prince will be clothed with despair,
and the hands of the people of the land will tremble.
I will deal with them according to their conduct,
and by their own standards I will judge them.
 ‘Then they will know that I am the LORD.’ ”
