Psalm 111
Hallelujah!
I give thanks to GOD with everything I’ve got—
Wherever good people gather, and in the congregation.
GOD’s works are so great, worth
A lifetime of study—endless enjoyment!
Splendor and beauty mark his craft;
His generosity never gives out.
His miracles are his memorial—
This GOD of Grace, this GOD of Love.
He gave food to those who fear him,
He remembered to keep his ancient promise.
He proved to his people that he could do what he said:
Hand them the nations on a platter—a gift!
He manufactures truth and justice;
All his products are guaranteed to last—
Never out-of-date, never obsolete, rust-proof.
All that he makes and does is honest and true:
He paid the ransom for his people,
He ordered his Covenant kept forever.
He’s so personal and holy, worthy of our respect.
The good life begins in the fear of GOD—
Do that and you’ll know the blessing of GOD.
His Hallelujah lasts forever. (MSG)

This is a good Sunday psalm. It’s a good everyday psalm, also. It focuses our attention on God and his nature, character, and activity. Who he has always been, he is, and he will be. He does not change.

His love is perfect. It motivates and animates everything he does.

Every beautiful piece of creation, from mathematical equations to leafy trees to flowers in bloom to people of all cultures and ethnicities, is a gift from Go.

He is extravagantly generous. His truth stands the test of time. His justice will ultimately and finally prevail.

He keeps his promises.

What he says and does endures forever and beyond.

We cannot ponder him with an open mind and heart without declaring his praise in worship.

God receives and blesses every person who comes to him seeking relationship. How could we not sing our hallelujahs?

I will worship God with all who know and love him as we are known and loved by him.

Our Father, we lift our praise for who you are. What you do thrills us. Your directions are all blessings to enjoy. Your purpose is a life better than our dreams. Your goodness extends beyond the limitations of time and place. We get to delight in your perfect love forever. This puts songs in our hearts that we cannot help but sing when we gather together, and when we follow your steps through every day. Amen.

Daily D – 1 Kings 2:1-4

1 Kings 2:1-4 When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go and that the Lord may keep his promise to me: ‘If your descendants watch how they live, and if they walk faithfully before me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’”
