Romans 8:26  In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. (CSB)

Romans 8:34  Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is the one who died, but even more, has been raised; he also is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us. (CSB)

Here are some things we need to know about prayer:

1. We often ask for what we think is good and right from our perspective but is not the good and right God knows is needed.
2. We do not always know what is best and would pray differently if we did.
3. We, at times, do not know what to pray. We do not know how to put into words what is going on inside our hearts and minds.
4. The Spirit of God within us clarifies our earnest confusion. He knows the intent of our prayers and expresses it better than we pray.
5. The Son of God at the Father’s right hand brings together our fondest hopes and God’s deepest desires.

Prayer is never an individual matter. Prayer is more powerful than we have considered. The Spirit of God and the Son of God take our prayers to the heart of God with clarity and purpose beyond what we can express.

Let us pray.

I will pray and trust God to answer better than I ask.

Our Father, teach us to pray. Give us ever-greater devotion to seeking your will and ways in prayer. Make us ever more concerned with your perfect plans and less and less concerned with our best reasoning. Remind us of the deep meaning of having your Holy Spirit and your Son interceding for us. Instruct us with ever-greater clarity regarding this communion in prayer. Amen.

Daily D – 2 Peter 1:5-8

2 Peter 1:5-8 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Daily D – Romans 12:18

Romans 12:18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself,
is an everlasting rock!

James 4:6 But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
