Psalm 60:11  Give us aid against the foe, for human help is worthless. (CSB)

There are some problems we can solve ourselves. There are some problems only God can solve. Ask him for help when you are helpless. Trust him to respond justly and timely.

This full psalm contains David’s recounting of his lead measures and the resulting failures. He explains God’s purpose and aligns his actions with that purpose. Experiencing failure, he asks, “What’s missing?”

It appears David understands how his strategy and tactics, right as they are, are not enough. The right alignment must be matched with the right attunement. Alignment is most often a matter of well-directed thoughts. Attunement is a matter of a God-shaped heart.

The right ends without the right means is wrong.

Hearts and minds unhinged are capable of performing valiantly alone – to a point. Hearts and minds linked together perform better – to a point. Hearts and minds seeking God’s will God’s way in God’s timing for God’s glory — to help people see how good and loving he is — this is the point.

God’s help is never utilitarian.

God’s help focuses on what is right, just, fair, and compassionate for everyone involved.

There is simply no use in asking God to help us win battles that do not bless.

There is simply no need for fear when our hearts and minds are aligned and attuned with God’s. His Greater Yes is precisely calculated to bless all concerned.

I will seek alignment and attunement with God’s purpose for everyone concerned.

Our Father, help us not only to take the right lead actions, but to do so with the right concern for every soul. What is right, just, fair, and compassionate for everyone involved? This is what we seek knowing this is what you love. Amen.
