Psalm 26:11, 12
But I live with integrity; redeem me and be gracious to me. My foot stands on level ground; I will bless the Lord in the assemblies. (CSB)

You know I’ve been aboveboard with you; now be aboveboard with me. I’m on the level with you, God; I bless you every chance I get. (MSG)

Here is a prayer worth praying. Here is a life worth living. Here is a lifestyle God can bless.

The bottom line in the verses above places King David on the level. He has confessed his sins. He has adjusted his life to honor God. He avoids what is worthless and evil. He exalts God’s goodness with thanksgiving and instruction. He wants more of God’s direction and less of every crooked path. He has lived the kind of life God can bless. He seeks God’s redemption and grace.

John Ortberg said this on the Carey Nieuwhof podcast:

If there is a gap between what it is that you say and how it is that you live, the people closest to you, the people on your team, will know what you really believe is reflected in the way that you live, and so that’s the way that they will live.

Let us all Mind the Gap. ([https://bit.ly/3u4E5zV])

King David set the pace. He knew the way, walked the way, and showed the way. That’s the way to live, to really live!

Honor God.

Serve others.

Hunger and thirst for more of God.

Turn Psalm 26 into your prayer. Begin your day with a prayer like this. Interject a prayer like this into the middle of your day or as often as necessary. End your day with a prayer like this.

We best learn how to pray by praying with those who have lived and prayed well. Some of the best prayers are the psalms sung in a minor key. Some are the kind best accompanied by loud brass horns and louder brass cymbals. Some are best accompanied by a softly playing piano. Some sound like the blues, some sound like jazz, some sound like the orchestra welcoming us to heaven.

Say your prayers. Use the prayers of the Bible to guide your own.

Sing your prayers. Sing them soft. Sing them strong. Sing them alone. Sing them with others.

Prayers worth praying and lives worth living make for one impressive and blessed life.

I will live a life God can bless, and I will pray the kind of prayers that agree with God’s will and ways.

Our Father, teach me how to live. Teach me how to pray. Amen.

Daily D – 2 Peter 1:5-8

2 Peter 1:5-8 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Daily D – Romans 12:18

Romans 12:18 If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

Daily D – Isaiah 26:3-4

You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace,
for it is trusting in you.
Trust in the LORD forever,
because in the LORD, the LORD himself,
is an everlasting rock!

James 4:6 But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
