Ezekiel 37:1-3  The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones. He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out. Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.” (NLT)

We live in an increasingly hopeless and helpless world. It’s not the first time things have been this bad. Ezekiel 37 is a bleak reminder of what happens when we forget God and turn away from his will and ways. It is also a reminder of how God restores and revitalizes even what appears hopeless and helpless.

He who created the heavens and the earth took dust and formed Adam. Then he breathed the breath of life into him. Our God forms and fills. He restores and revitalizes.

What in your life is dying or dead? Where do you see hopelessness and helplessness? What could use God’s breath of life?

You may feel hopeless and helpless.

Your family may feel hopeless and helpless.

Your place of work may feel hopeless and helpless.

Nothing is as hopeless and helpless as it appears. God can restore and revitalize even the driest of dead bones. He can restore and revitalize you, your family, and your place of work.

Where do you need the fresh wind of God’s breath of life to blow today? Follow the instructions of Philippians 4:6 and 7:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

God is in the soul restoration business. He works with those like Ezekiel who leave the answers and the process with him. He works with those who trust him enough to do his will his way in his timing.

I will trust God to form and to fill, to restore and to revitalize what appears to me dead, dry, helpless, and hopeless.

Our Father, breathe the breath of life into the dry bones in my life. Where I see helplessness, help me. Where I feel hopeless, give me living hope. Where I see nothing but death and destruction, revitalize and restore. Amen.

Daily D – Job 8:2-7

Job 8:2-7
“How long will you go on like this?
You sound like a blustering wind.
Does God twist justice?
Does the Almighty twist what is right?
Your children must have sinned against him,
so their punishment was well deserved.
But if you pray to God
and seek the favor of the Almighty,
and if you are pure and live with integrity,
he will surely rise up and restore your happy home.
And though you started with little,
you will end with much.”

Daily D – Job 1:9-11

Job 1:9-11 Satan replied to the LORD, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God. You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is! But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”

Daily D – Psalm 145:17

Psalm 145:17
The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness.

Daily D – Psalm 139:1-6

Psalm 139:1-6
O LORD, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, LORD.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Daily D – Psalm 130

Psalm 130
From the depths of despair, O LORD,
I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer.
