1 Kings 21:25-29  (No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel. His worst outrage was worshiping idols just as the Amorites had done—the people whom the Lord had driven out from the land ahead of the Israelites.) But when Ahab heard this message, he tore his clothing, dressed in burlap, and fasted. He even slept in burlap and went about in deep mourning. Then another message from the Lord came to Elijah: “Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy his dynasty.” (NLT)

Ahab was a black-hearted sinner, and his wife was worse. They were rulers only Hell and Hollywood could celebrate. Yet, when Ahab humbled himself, God delayed his judgment. However dark your heart is, God is ready to give you the light of life. He will deliver you from darkness now and forever.

Who do you know who is so immersed in shadow you cannot imagine him or her ever stepping into the light? Develop a more enlightened imagination. The Light of the World works wonders on those others give up on. Instead of sighing, pray.

What are the dark places in your own soul? What chambers of your heart are locked away from prying eyes and God’s grace? The Light of the World disinfects better than Mr. Clean. God’s saving, keeping, restoring grace is ever so much sweeter than the most cherished sin.

Know this: No one is beyond God’s reach. Not that man. Not that woman. Not even you.

Allow him to restore your broken world, his lost soul, her empty existence.

I will step fully into the light and bring others along with me.

Our Father, drive away the darkness in our souls. Eliminate the evil we have cherished too long. Restore us. Fill us with light and life. Give us purpose and the power we need to fulfill it. Amen.

Psalm 13:5, 6 “But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the LORD’s praise,
for he has been good to me.”

Daily D – Habakkuk 3:17-19

Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
