Daily D – Daniel 1:20

In every matter of wisdom and understanding that the king consulted them about, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and mediums in his entire kingdom.
DANIEL 1:20 (CSB)

—————————————————————————

Jesus said the Number One commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and will all your mind.” We sing songs about heart and soul. Mind doesn’t come up nearly as much.

Daniel 1:17 says, “God gave these four young men knowledge and understanding in every kind of literature and wisdom.”

The Bible Recap reading plan I am using this year begins each day with prayer guidance before taking up the assigned reading. The first instruction is to ask for God’s knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. If God stretched our minds day by day, what would be different? How would our lives improve at work and at home?

Loving God with all our minds empowers us to join God in building a better world. We see this again and again in this Bible book.

In Daniel 2:14, “Daniel responded with tact and discretion . . . .” In other words, Daniel did not sound like pugnacious Twitter and Facebook preachers. That sounds wise.

In Daniel 2:30 Daniel says, “As for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because I have more wisdom than anyone living, but in order that the interpretation might be made known to the king, and that you may understand the thoughts of your mind.” Daniel was well aware of where his insights came from and credited God with words that served the king and saved many lives.

What is your personal growth plan? What will you read? What podcasts will you listen to? Whose thoughts will you ponder after them?

Today we will feed our bodies. Today we will experience deep emotions. Today, let us expand our minds under God’s direction. Let us learn. Let us grow in knowledge, wisdom, insight, and understanding. Let us seek God’s truth. Let us love God with all our minds.

I will love God with all my mind.

Our Father, stretch my mind with knowledge, wisdom, insight, and understanding. Teach me. Provide me with wise guides. Use what you implant in my life to benefit others. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
