Daily D – Exodus 4:12
Exodus 4:12 “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (NIV)

Where God guides, God provides.
When God sends us on mission, he equips us for what he calls us to do.
Moses had spent forty years in relative silence taking care of sheep and goats. That’s a whole lot of alone time. He could think deep thoughts. He could ponder the universe. He could sing when he wanted to sing. He could shout in anger when he stubbed his toe.
He could also enjoy the silence of no one talking to him, no one telling him what to do, no one bossing him around. If anyone were to write a book entitled How to Be an Introvert, the Moses Lifestyle would be an instructive chapter.
Forty years in the wilderness, where the workdays also included work nights, where the only conversation during working hours was with other introverted shepherds and seemingly endlessly bleating sheep and goats, silence settles in on a soul.
God shows up and says, “Now go; I will help you speak and teach you what to say.”
A man more comfortable grunting and sighing says, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
God shows up in a burning bush. He places a call on your life. He invites you to lead the greatest deliverance in history. He promises his presence, power, and provision, and all you can say is “Please send someone else”?
I wonder how many God-directed adventures have been missed because they sounded hard?
I wonder how many God Dreams have gone unfulfilled because of a poor self-image and even poorer understanding of God’s presence, power, and provision?
I wonder how many of us right now look the other way when God says, “Follow me.”
Helen Keller said, “Life is a daring adventure or nothing.” Moses preferred nothing when God showed up with his golden invitation.
Fast forward through Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. God allows Moses to see the Promised Land, but not enter it. What was Moses’ disposition after living through the great adventure of the Exodus? He wanted more. Having discovered how thoroughly God provided all he needed for himself and the multitude he led, he was so God-confident that he wanted more.
Moses was 120. He was no spring chicken eighty-years-old anymore. But he wanted more of God’s guidance, God’s power, and God’s presence.
When we dare to say Yes when God invites us to join him, when we learn to move at the impulse of his love, when we learn to live in the center of his goodness and grace, all we want is more of him.
The secret of the truly good life is saying Yes to God’s every invitation and command, and No to anything that would distract us or delay us from the joy set before us.

I will say Yes to God’s invitation.

Our Father, Moses initially said, “Please send someone else.” He finally said, “Keep sending me.” Give us the courage and confidence to pray like Moses at the end of his life. Here I am. Send me. Amen.
