2 Chronicles 15:1-4 Then the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded, and he went out to meet King Asa as he was returning from the battle. “Listen to me, Asa!” he shouted. “Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you. For a long time Israel was without the true God, without a priest to teach them, and without the Law to instruct them. But whenever they were in trouble and turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him out, they found him.” (NLT)

“Whenever you seek him, you will find him.”

Here are encouraging words of truth and life. God is more interested in being found than we are in searching for him. He wants us to know and experience his presence at all times. Any time we realize we have neglected giving him the attention he deserves and we need, we can return to him in full assurance that he receives all who seek him.

You’ve no doubt heard someone say, “If there is distance between you and God, guess who moved?” (Hint: It wasn’t God.)

Turn your heart toward home as often as necessary.

Practice conscious awareness of God throughout the day. Engage in sentence prayers that acknowledge his presence and your dependence, prayers that express your trust and need of his presence and purpose.

Prayers like, “Make my heart like yours.”

Prayers like, “Give me a pure heart and clean hands.”

Prayers like, “I need you now.”

Seeking God with earnest expectation is restorative, renewing, and enriching.

I will seek God throughout the day and in every waking moment of the night.

Our Father, please bless me with a pure heart and clean hands. Make my heart like yours. I need you now and always. Guide me step by step, thought by thought, word by word throughout this day and the night to come. I belong to you. Amen.

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
