Philippians 4:5  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. (NIV)

Gentleness is power under control. It is also deploying power properly for the benefit of others.

Our Father in Heaven empowers us for his purposes. No power? Get purpose.

Clarity of purpose empowers us to become all God ever dreamed we would be, to behave in a manner that honors him and blesses others, and to extend his Kingdom goodness everywhere we go and in everything we do.

Why on earth are you here? This is a preferable question to the age-old saw, “What is the meaning of life?”

This does not need to be complicated. It can be as simple and as powerful as two words. For example, Maximizing Dreams. I help people live better lives than they dreamed possible.

Everyone has a dream of who and what they could be if someone would coach them, provide them with resources, believe in them, or give them permission. Where do such dreams come from?

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God has known us from eternity past. He has been preparing each of us for this moment in time. His dreams for us are bigger and better than anything we can dream for ourselves. Our dreams often drift into fantasies formed more by popular entertainment than eternal truth. God invites us out of fantasy and into the reality of his bigness and goodness. He wants to empower us to bless the whole world.

He empowers us to empower others. My coworker Becky’s two words are Empowering Chosen. Jesus said,

“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

People need to know God’s choice to know them, love them, and empower them to become all he dreamed they would be. It is not uncommon for those who know they are chosen to continue living limp lives. Becky and others like her help people see how to live Spirit-empowered lives that build better homes, workplaces, and communities.

God has placed his empowering presence within you to join him in enriching the lives of others. He can take marred vessels like us and shape beautiful outcomes that bless others.

How do we demonstrate his empowering presence? Gently. When you want to express power, do so with gentle applications of just what is needed and only what is needed. Power is a flow-through process where God extends his lovingkindness to others through you. Do not use power to impress others. Do not withhold power when you can truly perform as God’s agent of grace.

I will live a gentle life empowered by God’s presence for his purpose.

Our Father, empower me for your purpose. Use me in whatever manner honors you and blesses others. Amen.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Deuteronomy 26:16-19 “The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 23:4-5

Deuteronomy 23:4, 5 “For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 17:16-20

Deuteronomy 17:16-20 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.” He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and **he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.** Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 15:7

Deuteronomy 15:7 “If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 13:4

Deuteronomy 13:4 “It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.”
