Isaiah 32:17
The result of righteousness will be peace;
the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever. (CSB)

And where there’s Right, there’ll be Peace and the progeny of Right:
quiet lives and endless trust.
My people will live in a peaceful neighborhood—
in safe houses, in quiet gardens. (MSG)

Whatever you do, there will be consequences. Pleasant consequences flow from taking the right lead measures, doing the right thing the right way for the right reason in the right timing. Right living produces quiet confidence forever.

Better-than-average lives and families are possible, even likely, when we practice the good life God makes possible.

Perfection is not the goal. We are way too messed up to achieve that. We live in a pretty messed-up world that keeps bumping into us. Progress on the journey of right living provides proven pleasantness.

The truth is, in so many ways, our lives are about as peaceful as we want them to be. Our confidence is built one good decision at a time.

Today and tomorrow are days of decision for a group of us gathered in the Pacific Northwest. We are celebrating good work well done. We are planning for maximizing the opportunities before us. A group of us agreed over dinner last night that the most important thing we can do here now for the special future we long for is to hear God clearly and to obey him immediately. Feel free to pray along with us.

A group of stellar men and women have lovingly labored here for decades. The constant challenges have shortened some seasons. Painful progress takes its tolls. Even so, the points of light glow with all of God’s goodness. Peace and confidence spread.

Life is about as good as we intend it to be. Let us live with good intentions.

I will live with good intentions and take the right lead measures toward a life of peace and quiet confidence.

Our Father, thank you for the blessing of pleasant consequences from doing the right thing the right way for the right reason in the right timing. Show us how to live today to produce peace and quiet confidence in the years ahead. Amen.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Deuteronomy 26:16-19 “The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 23:4-5

Deuteronomy 23:4, 5 “For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 17:16-20

Deuteronomy 17:16-20 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.” He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and **he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.** Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 15:7

Deuteronomy 15:7 “If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 13:4

Deuteronomy 13:4 “It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.”
