Daily D – 2 Corinthians 8:7
2 Corinthians 8:7
Now as you excel in everything — in faith, speech, knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love for us — excel also in this act of grace. (CSB)
You do so well in so many things—you trust God, you’re articulate, you’re insightful, you’re passionate, you love us—now, do your best in this, too. (The Message)

Some people have too much confidence. Reading 1 and 2 Corinthians leads to the inevitable conclusion that they were some of those people. They wanted everyone to know how special they were. The Apostle Paul tapped into their superior nature for the benefit of others.
Those who are abundantly blessed have been blessed to, in turn, bless others. We see this in the life of Abraham. God said to him,
“I will make you into a great nation,
I will bless you,
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”
Genesis 12:2 CSB

What God wanted for Abraham, he also wants for us. He enriches our lives with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, which we use to create wealth that provides for us and others. He provides physical capacities, relational partnerships, and emotional intelligence, leading to multiplied and amplified benefits.
When we realize how generously God has blessed us, we should turn our thoughts toward the needs of others. We share what we have, we instruct others how to do what we do, we live extravagantly generous lives to the glory of God. We help where help is truly help.
God asked Moses at the burning bush encounter, “What is that in your hand?” (See Exodus 4:2.) It was only a staff, a good, strong, long stick. It was also a snake (verse 3). It was whatever God wanted it to be. If God can use Moses’ stick and David’s stones (1 Samuel 17:40), he can use whatever he has placed in your hands to save, deliver, heal, and bless.
Success and blessing are all about the Giver who wants everyone to know his rich generosity and amazing grace.
What has God placed in your hands? How can he use it to bless others?

I will invite God to use the capacities he has given me to benefit others and to bless me so that I may be a blessing.

Our Father, you have enriched our lives in so many ways. We control more wealth than kings of old. Use what you have placed in our hands to benefit others. Use us to bless the whole world. Amen.
