Then Elisha sent him a messenger, who said, “Go wash seven times in the Jordan and your skin will be restored and you will be clean.”
2 KINGS 5:10 (CSB)

Now and again, God speaks so clearly it is hard not to hear his voice. Sometimes we make things more complicated than they are. We want to be sure, really, really sure, that we heard God correctly. Living with wisdom and power, as Jesus taught in Matthew 7:24-27, is a matter of hearing and obeying. Somebody ought to write a song called Trust and Obey. That could help us internalize God’s message.

Do not look for these Daily D entries next Tuesday and Wednesday, and maybe even a bit longer than that. Neck surgery is on the schedule for Tuesday morning. This will include a one-night stay in the hospital. The doctor promises relief from neck pain immediately. The full recovery, of course, will take a bit longer.

So what was my Bible reading today? This text is about healing. Then I read Psalm 34. If you haven’t read it lately, take a look at it. You will see why it is encouraging to me today. Verse 4 is so, so good: “I sought the LORD, and he answered me and rescued me from all my fears.”

The reading in Matthew today is from chapter 8. Verses 1-4 are about healing. Verses 5-13 are about healing. Verses 14-17 are about healing. Get the message?

* What is God saying to you today?
* How will you not only hear but obey?
* What will be the result of living with wisdom and power?

I will trust God for healing.

Our Father, thank you for encouraging my heart. Thank you for calming my fears. Thank you for healing my body. You are better to me than I would be to myself. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-5

Psalm 112:4, 5
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Daily D – Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Daily D – 2 Kings 25:27-30

2 Kings 25:27-30 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, he released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. He did this on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat of honor higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon. So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and for the rest of his life ate regularly at the king’s table. Day by day the king gave Jehoiachin a regular allowance as long as he lived.

Daily D – 2 Kings 20:19

2 Kings 20:19 “The word of the Lord you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “Will there not be peace and security in my lifetime?”
