Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the LORD your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.
DEUTERONOMY 31:6 (CSB)

_____________________________________________________________________________

Three times in this chapter God tells Joshua and the people, “Be strong and courageous.” When God says something once, we are to take notice and do what he says. When he says something twice, we are to give his words careful attention. When he says something three times, we are to take it to heart.

Today God says to us, “Be strong and courageous” three times (verses 6, 7, 23). This brings to mind a question: Where do we get this strength and courage?

Where God guides, God provides. In each of these verses, God tells us this: “I will not leave you or abandon you. I will be with you.” We can be strong and courageous because he is with us. We are never out of his care.

You and I cannot go where God is not in this life. When we live on mission with him, we acknowledge his presence, his power, and his provision for whatever is before us.

What if you lived as if God were with you in all things today? What would that make possible?

What if you asked God for his direction today, and what if you stepped forward into whatever he placed before you? What could happen?

You and I can live with the confident assurance of God’s smile on our lives when we commit to walk in his ways. What a difference a day makes when we walk in the strength and courage God gives to all who acknowledge him!

I will be strong and courageous.

Our Father, I am weak, but you are strong. I am timid, but you give me courage. I am easily intimidated by the challenges of life, but you will never leave me or abandon me. This means that nothing you ask of me is impossible. Thank you for this confident assurance of your guidance and provision. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
