Daily D – Genesis 12:1-3

“The Lord said to Abram: Go from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt, and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” GENESIS 12:1-3 (CSB)

King David wrote in Psalm 16:5, 6:

LORD, you are my portion
And my cup of blessing;
you hold my future.
The boundary lines have fallen for me
in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

Abram, or Abraham, and King David were blessed, blessed to be a blessing. God was good to them, very good indeed.

Do yourself a favor and look up Flow State as it relates to positive psychology. Athletes and other high-performance individuals and teams often talk about the flow state or being in the zone. Wikipedia, authority of authorities, says the flow state is when “a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.”

Abraham and David lived in the flow. They were abundantly blessed. David expresses this truth beautifully and memorably when he says, “The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places.”

This blessing was not for keeping and certainly not for hoarding. It was to be disseminated, sown, scattered, propagated, spread far and wide. How did that work out for them? Jews, Muslims, and Christians all consider themselves sons of Abraham. David was the ancestor of Jesus. It seems to have worked out pretty well.

Simple insight? The more of God you open yourself to, the more you have to share, and the more you want to share. If you see a selfish soul, you know they are running a quart or more low on God.

Live a life God can bless. Live in a flow state by sharing all you receive. You will never run out of God as long as you live in a flow state.

Count your blessings. As you do, how has God enriched you? How does he want to use those blessings to bless others? If you need to ask him, go ahead and do so. It’s the kind of question he loves to answer. Do immediately what he tells you to do. If you need an example, go back to Genesis 12 and notice how Abram follows without a recorded question what God tells him to do. The blessings came after that. Just a thought.

Fear not running out of blessings to give. God blesses open hands, not closed fists. Do not think this is all about money. There are many other kinds of blessing, aren’t there? Use your physical health, your intellectual vitality, your disciplined work ethic, as a prism to direct the flow of God’s blessing to others.

Blessing is not possessing.
Blessing is sharing.
Blessing is not withholding.
Blessing is living in the flow.

I will live in the zone of blessing.

Our Father, bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Enrich me that I may enrich others with what you entrust to me. I want to live immersed in energized focus with you in serving others. Hand me another blessing that I may send it on its way. Amen.

Daily D – Isaiah 65:1-2

Isaiah 65:1, 2
The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.
I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’
to a nation that did not call on my name.
All day long I opened my arms to a rebellious people.
But they follow their own evil paths
and their own crooked schemes.”

Daily D – Psalm 131

Psalm 131
Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—
now and always.

Daily D – Isaiah 55:8-13

Isaiah 55:8-13
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the LORD’s name;
they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

Daily D – Isaiah 50:4-5

Isaiah 50:4, 5 “The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom,
so that I know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning he wakens me
and opens my understanding to his will.
The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me,
and I have listened.
I have not rebelled or turned away.”

Daily D – Isaiah 48:17-18

Isaiah 48:17, 18 This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is good for you
and leads you along the paths you should follow.
Oh, that you had listened to my commands!
Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river
and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea.”
