You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles. PSALM 60:2 (NLT)

Today I will fly for the first time since the pandemic hit. I have three facemasks just in case. My wife and daughter have made sure I know to abide by all the rules. I have hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and enough instructions to keep me busy cleaning the whole flight.

Once I arrive in Washington D. C., our son and I begin the trek across the country back here to our home. Next week we will continue the journey on to California. This coast-to-coast journey will show us how everyday life is affected by the constraints of these days.

Today’s verse is a good prayer for our day. “Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.” Indeed, the whole world staggers from the weight of this virus. Systems we depend on are cracked. Some are at the breaking point.

King David knew where to turn when everything he depended upon was falling apart. Let us do the same thing he did. Let us go to God who alone can heal our land and help our world.

I will pray across the USA.

Our Father, our land and our world are shaken. So many structures are broken. Seal the cracks. Heal our land. Heal our world. May your peace cover the earth as waters cover the seas and as the sky wraps itself around this planet. May all people everywhere see you for who you are and know you as you want to be known. Amen.

Daily D – Genesis 4:6-7

Genesis 4:6, 7 “Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”

Daily D – Genesis 2:7

Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.

Daily D – Mark 6:30-32

Mark 6:30-32 The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. So they left by boat for a quiet place, where they could be alone.

Daily D – Mark 9:30-31

Mark 9:30, 31 Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn’t want anyone to know he was there, for he wanted to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead.”

Daily D – John 17:4

John 17:4 “I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to do.”
