John 9:1-5
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (NIV)

Every problem is an opportunity. 

Every problem is an opportunity to bring God’s grace to bear on the issue before us. 

Somewhere today, you will encounter someone with a problem. It could be as simple as helping someone navigate a doorway when their arms are full of packages. It could be adding some change to someone who came up just short at the coffee shop. It could be rendering aid to someone involved in an accident. 

We never know what opportunities lie before us when a day begins. Sometimes the opportunity is to pray as we pass by a scene. Sometimes the opportunity is to pray with someone in the scene. Sometimes the opportunity is to be the hands and feet of Jesus. 

Now is a good time to ask God to prepare you for the opportunities that will present themselves to you today. Now is the time to ask God to prepare you to be ready with the right words, the right touch, and the right actions that truly help others. 

Jesus said, in essence, “Stop trying to figure out who’s to blame, and start trying to figure out how to help.” Stop focusing on the problem. Start focusing on the opportunity.

I will see every problem as an opportunity to bring God’s grace to bear on the issue before me.

Our Father, prepare me for the challenges of this day and the opportunities before me. Put your thoughts in my mind and your words in my mouth. Use my hands and feet to serve others in need of assistance or aid. Amen.
