Joshua 9:14  So the Israelites examined their food, but they did not consult the Lord. (NLT)

Typing is problematic this morning. My left index finger is thoroughly wrapped in a professionally applied bandage. My attempt to snip a stem of grapes with scissors caught the tip of my finger in just the right place so that nothing I could do at home would stop the bleeding.

This bandage is industrial grade. Our two-year-old granddaughter will consider this a major boo-boo. She will marvel at the wrapping. She will also show me her latest boo-boo and we will commiserate our wounds together.

Brevity is necessary today. Read Joshua 9 top to bottom and see what happens when we don’t follow the Apostle Paul’s wisdom in Philippians 4:6 and 7:

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Pray about everything because your confidence may not equal God’s wisdom.

Just in case we need more than one set of instructions in this matter, Paul also wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Never stop praying.”

Even decisions that are apparently simple and straightforward deserve a moment of reflection. Simple prayers like “Show me the way,” “Give me wisdom,” and “Help me understand” are invitations for God to add to what he has already shown us and to protect us from unnecessary mistakes.

What do you wish you had prayed about? What do you need to pray about now?

I will pray about everything and thereby have much less to worry about.

Our Father, praying about everything at first seems unnecessary. Over time, however, we begin to see that it is like breathing out and breathing in. It is a calm conversation between friends. It provides assurance and guidance. It leads to better decisions and fewer regrets. It honors you and serves us. Amen.

who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
