Psalm 36:5-9
Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths.
You care for people and animals alike, O LORD.
How precious is your unfailing love, O GOD!
All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.
You feed them from the abundance of your own house,
letting them drink from your river of delights.
For you are the fountain of life,
the light by which we see. (NLT)

What do you need that God is not?

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

What do you need that God will not provide?

Same answers.

These are good thoughts for our family. We are entering a season of transitions. These are good transitions. Lots of fun stuff is included. Even so, there is always stress related to change, no matter how good.

This means this is a time to recall where we truly stand, what is most important, and how we should navigate these weeks and months ahead.

This also means awakening on a Saturday morning to our Black Dog’s growling stomach and her gentle approach of encouraging me to fill her bowl with chewy delights.

This also means awakening at almost the same moment to a list of ToDos from my bride, who is away at a conference and remembers what all needs to be accomplished before she returns Monday.

The dogs’ bellies are full. My bride is off to her conference events. Two cups of coffee have been received. I have my assignments for the day. God’s mercies are new and fresh. His kindness is on full display. Strength for the work and focus for the tasks are ready for employment.

Let’s go.

I will lean into this season with intention and anticipation.

Our Father, change not managed well feels like loss. Change in your loving care feels like gain. Thank you for the gains of the day ahead and the season to come. Lead us forward at your pace of grace. Amen.

Matthew 3:16, 17 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Daily D – Matthew 2:16-18

Matthew 2:16-18 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

Daily D – 2 Chronicles 35:25

2 Chronicles 35:25 Jeremiah composed laments for Josiah, and to this day all the male and female singers commemorate Josiah in the laments. These became a tradition in Israel and are written in the Laments.

2 Chronicles 34:33 Josiah removed all the detestable idols from all the territory belonging to the Israelites, and he had all who were present in Israel serve the LORD their God. As long as he lived, they did not fail to follow the LORD, the God of their ancestors. (NIV)
