Romans 4:20, 21
He did not waver in unbelief at God’s promise but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, because he was fully convinced that what God had promised, he was also able to do. (CSB)

He didn’t tiptoe around God’s promise asking cautiously skeptical questions. He plunged into the promise and came up strong, ready for God, sure that God would make good on what he had said. (The Message)

A promise made is a promise kept. This is true of God now and forever. It has always been true for him. My record at promise-keeping is a bit more uncertain. Remembering a rather embarrassing Top Ten list of unkept promises doesn’t take long.

I have sometimes made promises rashly, sometimes with great intention, and sometimes simply speaking too soon without considering all of the details.

God does not share my proclivity in this regard. When he speaks, he is faithful and true to what he says. My problem is the promises I have not kept. If any of his promises seem unkept, it is because their timing has not yet come. You may wait on me forever to do what I said I would do and end up disappointed. God’s promises endure forever until they are fulfilled, and they most certainly will be fulfilled.

What are God’s promises you anticipate most? What do you want to see him do that he said he would do?

God’s promises are worth the wait. Anticipation makes them all the more glorious. Lean into what he said he would do. The best is yet to be. The best is coming soon.

I trust God to fulfill his every promise because he is forever faithful and true.

Our Father, when it is time to wait, we will wait. And when it is time to celebrate, we will celebrate! You are worth waiting on now and forever. Amen.
