Jeremiah 6:16
This is what the Lord says:
“Stand by the roadways and look.
Ask about the ancient paths,
‘Which is the way to what is good?’
Then take it
and find rest for yourselves.”
But they protested, “We won’t!” (CSB)

GOD’s Message yet again:
“Go stand at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for directions to the old road,
The tried-and-true road. Then take it.
Discover the right route for your souls.
But they said, ‘Nothing doing.
We aren’t going that way.’
(The Message)

An actor of note was greeted by the doorman upon leaving his apartment building. The doorman said, “Have a good day!” The actor turned toward him with a scowl and said, “I have other plans.”

It’s Monday. There seem to be more people with Other Plans on Mondays than on any other day of the week. We can let crankypants people derail us, or we can turn to God and ask him for directions. Trust me, the latter way is the better way. Companions on the Jesus Journey are less irritable and more hopeful. How can we stay angry when we are headed toward a destination of no more tears?

Monday is a good day to review whose we are and what path he has laid out for us. It is a good day to start a fresh workweek with a freshened walk with God. Ponder the possibilities when he leads the way. Consider the opportunities he has placed before us. Trust him to supply what we need when it is needed. This is his pattern and promise.

Of course, our adversary may choose to remind us of how some people simply bug the snot out of us. He may offer a shortcut for our steps that take us where we don’t really want to go, but that does seem easier.

Now is a good time to remind ourselves that taking the Easy Way isn’t the Easy Way. Character is never strengthened by slapping an Easy button.

What road are you on today? Is it time to find God’s better path? It’s only hidden from those who choose not to look for it. God’s version of Hide and Seek works like this: Those who seek, find.

I will ask, “Which is the way to what is good?” Then I will take it and find effectiveness and rest.

Our Father, show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Amen.

Daily D – Daniel 6:1-4

Daniel 6:1-4 Darius the Mede decided to divide the kingdom into 120 provinces, and he appointed a high officer to rule over each province. The king also chose Daniel and two others as administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king’s interests. Daniel soon proved himself more capable than all the other administrators and high officers. Because of Daniel’s great ability, the king made plans to place him over the entire empire.

Then the other administrators and high officers began searching for some fault in the way Daniel was handling government affairs, but they couldn’t find anything to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy.

Daily D – Daniel 5:25-31

Daniel 5:25-31 “This is the message that was written: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. This is what these words mean:

Mene means ‘numbered’—God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an end.
Tekel means ‘weighed’—you have been weighed on the balances and have not measured up.
Parsin means ‘divided’—your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

Then at Belshazzar’s command, Daniel was dressed in purple robes, a gold chain was hung around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom.

That very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, was killed.
And Darius the Mede took over the kingdom at the age of sixty-two.

Daily D – Daniel 4:36-37

Daniel 4:36, 37 “When my sanity returned to me, so did my honor and glory and kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored as head of my kingdom, with even greater honor than before.

“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.”

Daily D – Daniel 3:30

Daniel 3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to even higher positions in the province of Babylon.

Daily D – Daniel 2:14

Daniel 2:14 When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, came to kill them, Daniel handled the situation with wisdom and discretion.
