Proverbs 28:26
The one who trusts in himself is a fool,
but one who walks in wisdom will be safe. (CSB)

If you think you know it all, you’re a fool for sure;
real survivors learn wisdom from others. (MSG)

People often say things like, “Trust your heart,” and “Don’t think; just feel.”

God spoke through the Prophet Jeremiah these words of wisdom:

The heart is more deceitful than anything else,
and incurable — who can understand it?
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭9‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Maybe we should seek God’s wisdom rather than trusting our hearts. God gives wisdom to all who seek it. He provides generous servings. He wants us to be wise. He wants us to follow the ways of truth and life. (See James 1:5.)

God’s wisdom gives good directions. It protects and defends. It clarifies confused thinking.

The good news is that wisdom has been gathered and arranged for our benefit in the pages of the Bible. Drink daily from this well of life.

None of us know it all. Each of us can add to our learning by doing what God says. Wise words put into practice appropriately provide new insight and understanding. They help protect us from unnecessary harm.

I will listen to God’s truth and do what it says.

Our Father, grow me in wisdom. Teach me day by day as I read the Bible. Empower me to do what you say. Shape me by your words of truth and life. Amen.

Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel? I don’t want you to die, says the Sovereign Lord. Turn back and live!”

Daily D – Ezekiel 11:19-20
