Isaiah 54:10
”Though the mountains move
and the hills shake,
my love will not be removed from you
and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,”
says your compassionate Lord.“ (CSB)

Chaos is messy, dangerous, and loud. God is beautiful, peaceful, and compassionate. Earth’s trembling cannot budge God’s settled love and care for those who belong to him.

This truth is good to recall when we see and hear news reports today of stupid people doing stupid things. It is worth remembering when it sounds like evil is gaining the upper hand.

This passage stands in firm solidarity with Psalm 46.

These words of truth and life point toward the cross, the resurrection, the ascension, and Pentecost.

These promises endure forever.

For as long as anything is, the core truth of the universe and everything beyond is God’s unfailing love, mercy, and compassion. Because of his settled nature and amazing grace, we can know peace even when there seems to be no peace.

Our Father, every foundation stone but you is shaking now. Shaky are the halls of justice and learning. Shaky are those who redefine truth and debate its reality. People are looking for someplace firm to stand. They are looking for something to give them confidence and hope. Draw them to yourself. May they see you for who you are. May they experience your love, peace, and compassion. May they pass it along to their shaky families, neighbors, friends, and coworkers. Amen.

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.

for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.

who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Daily D – 2 Kings 25:27-30

2 Kings 25:27-30 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, he released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. He did this on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat of honor higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon. So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and for the rest of his life ate regularly at the king’s table. Day by day the king gave Jehoiachin a regular allowance as long as he lived.
