Ruth 4:11-17  All the people who were at the city gate, including the elders, said, “We are witnesses. May the Lord make the woman who is entering your house like Rachel and Leah, who together built the house of Israel. May you be powerful in Ephrathah and your name well known in Bethlehem. May your house become like the house of Perez, the son Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring the Lord will give you by this young woman.” Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. He slept with her, and the Lord granted conception to her, and she gave birth to a son. The women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you without a family redeemer today. May his name become well known in Israel. He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. Indeed, your daughter-in-law, who loves you and is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.” Naomi took the child, placed him on her lap, and became a mother to him. The neighbor women said, “A son has been born to Naomi,” and they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. (CSB)

Psalm 77:19
Your way went through the sea
and your path through the vast water,
but your footprints were unseen.“ (CSB)

The unseen hand of God accomplishes his purposes in ways we cannot perceive until they come about in his perfect timing.

Reading the Bible day by day and from cover to cover reveals this truth. We cannot thwart the purposes of God. We can derail his purpose for us through foolish choice and harmful behavior. We cannot stop the incoming tide of his renewing of all things.

It is amazing how the mundane moments of our lives come together from time to time showing us what God has been doing all along beyond our notice. As Psalm 77:19 in the New Living Translation says,

Your road led through the sea,
your pathway through the mighty waters—
a pathway no one knew was there!

Whatever you are up against today, know our Father in Heaven is working on the circumstances and on us to bring about his highest and best solution. Remember, there is more going on here than what we perceive, than what we can know.

One right decision after another, one right next action after another, leads us ever-more definitely into God’s good light and life.

Do not walk the path you can see if God is leading another way. His path may be imperceptible, but his purpose is divine, and his path is sure. The best possible outcome for our lives is found along God’s invisible pathways.

I will follow our path-making God.

Our Father, lead me today through the sea, through the fire, through the mundane moments of ordinary days. Lead me. Your highest and best is discovered when you lead the way. I will follow. I will obey your directions to walk before you and be blameless. You will do far more than I can perceive. Your goodness will cause me to sing your praise. Amen.

Daily D – Isaiah 65:1-2

Isaiah 65:1, 2
The Lord says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.
I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.
I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’
to a nation that did not call on my name.
All day long I opened my arms to a rebellious people.
But they follow their own evil paths
and their own crooked schemes.”

Daily D – Psalm 131

Psalm 131
Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—
now and always.

Daily D – Isaiah 55:8-13

Isaiah 55:8-13
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

“The rain and snow come down from the heavens
and stay on the ground to water the earth.
They cause the grain to grow,
producing seed for the farmer
and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
You will live in joy and peace.
The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow.
Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up.
These events will bring great honor to the LORD’s name;
they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

Daily D – Isaiah 50:4-5

Isaiah 50:4, 5 “The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom,
so that I know how to comfort the weary.
Morning by morning he wakens me
and opens my understanding to his will.
The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me,
and I have listened.
I have not rebelled or turned away.”

Daily D – Isaiah 48:17-18

Isaiah 48:17, 18 This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is good for you
and leads you along the paths you should follow.
Oh, that you had listened to my commands!
Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river
and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea.”
