There is something about a song. It says more than its words convey. Emotions are amplified as musicians play. First notes cause a body to sway. 

Songs are blue; songs are true. Songs tell stories about me and you.

Songs are bright, bubbly, and light. Songs help us through a night.

Songs are moody and maudlin. Songs say, “We’re all in.”

Songs have listened. Songs have learned. Songs report the sighs of the spurned.

Songs have meaning more than expressed. Songs soothe brokenness best.

Our Father, you gift us songs. They teach us. They empower us. They comfort us. They express deep emotion. Thank you for these wonderful gifts. How would we fully express our hurt and hangups? How could we adequately declare our thanksgiving and praise? Amen.
