Colossians 1:19, 20  For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. (NLT)

Colossians 1:18-20  We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment. And when it comes to the church, he organizes and holds it together, like a head does a body. He was supreme in the beginning and—leading the resurrection parade—he is supreme in the end. From beginning to end he’s there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so expansive, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross. (MSG)

Isaiah 9:6, 7  For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, **Prince of Peace**. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! (Emphasis added) (NLT)

What does peace on earth look like? How do we know when it is really here and truthfully applied? The Message paraphrase aids our understanding when it says, “all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.”

Peace on earth is not limited to Democrats and Republicans working together for the common good. It is not limited to Russians and Ukrainians laying down their arms. It is not limited to Israelis and Palestinians working together for mutual safety and flourishing. It is not limited to you and me refusing to separated by our petty disputes over things that do not matter.

Peace is bigger, broader, and better than our dictionary definitions.

Peace reshapes all things. It repairs all things. It renews all things. It resets all things to their original intentions. It restores all things to their original purposes. It harmonizes the discordant cacophony of our fractured realities.

Shepherds who had seen midnight skies blaze with holy light and declare the best good news with angelic voices, and who witnessed a long-standing promise come true, never gazed into a night sky in quite the same way. There was confidence now in the God who spun it all into being. There was worship now for the One who included even them in his story. There was expectancy now that no night is so dark that it cannot burst with glory.

And so we can lie down and sleep in peace.

And so we can arise and work in peace.

And so we can ponder and wonder and wait for the full realization of what the coming peace makes possible.

Jesus is our peace. Jesus is coming. Jesus is here.

Know Jesus. Know Peace.

I will live a peaceful life under the full authority of the Prince of Peace.

Our Father, fill my life with your peace. Make me a peace bearer. Make me a peacemaker. Bless us with peace on earth. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 113:3

Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the LORD is to be praised.

Daily D – Psalm 112:4-5

Psalm 112:4, 5
Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely,
who conduct their affairs with justice.

Daily D – Isaiah 6:1-7

Isaiah 6:1-7 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”

Daily D – Isaiah 1:18

Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, let us settle the matter,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Daily D – 2 Kings 25:27-30

2 Kings 25:27-30 In the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the year Awel-Marduk became king of Babylon, he released Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. He did this on the twenty-seventh day of the twelfth month. He spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat of honor higher than those of the other kings who were with him in Babylon. So Jehoiachin put aside his prison clothes and for the rest of his life ate regularly at the king’s table. Day by day the king gave Jehoiachin a regular allowance as long as he lived.
