John 7:37-39  On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) (NLT)

Jesus is refreshingly different. His best gift becomes richer when passed along. We see this in John 4 when he offered Living Water to the woman at the well. She extended the gift to her village. Everyone benefited from her transformation.

Transformed people are God’s ambassadors of transformation. Those refreshed by Living Water refresh others.

We meet many thirsty people day by day. Let the river flow!

A young man began a new job with essential health and safety guidelines. His second round of training came after he came up short on his first experience. A second tutorial slowed down the whole operation. It was an opportune moment for a customer to act like a jerk. Or, it was an opportune moment to let the river flow.

An appointment was scheduled. Important work was required. The team arrived hours early, did not expeditiously correct the issues they discovered, and stayed longer than if they had followed a better protocol. It was an opportune moment to point out the faults. Or, it was an opportune moment to let the river flow.

A woman needing a nap sat on a plane next to a man in need of conversation. Hours later, she handed him her Bible after walking him through God’s story of transforming grace. It was an opportune moment to focus on herself as she prepared to lead training for a dozen or more key leaders. Or, it was an opportune moment to let the river flow.

What God pours in, pour out to others. You will be doubly refreshed.

I will let the river flow!

Our Father, pour into my life the fullness of your Spirit. Empower me for every encounter with thirsty people today. Use me to refresh them with your transforming grace. Amen.

Psalm 125:4, 5
O LORD, do good to those who are good,
whose hearts are in tune with you.
But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O LORD.
Take them away with those who do evil.
May Israel have peace!

when his loved ones die.

Daily D – Psalm 106:1-3

Psalm 106:1-3
Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Who can list the glorious miracles of the LORD?
Who can ever praise him enough?
There is joy for those who deal justly with others
and always do what is right.

Daily D – Psalm 103:1-5

Psalm 103:1-5
Let all that I am praise the LORD;
with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the LORD;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He redeems me from death
and crowns me with love and tender mercies.
He fills my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
